期待了整整一年，Apache OpenOffice 3.4終於誕生了！這是OpenOffice由Oracle捐給Apache基金會後，由企業主導轉為社群主導後，由GPL轉為Apache License後，台灣社群接手正體中文翻譯後，台灣社群進入開發團隊後，發表的第一個版本。同時，也是OpenOffice 1.0發表後，正好十年的十年慶。所以，怎麼能夠不Party一下呢？

OpenOffice 3.4 Release Party，訂於2012/6/2(六)下午兩點於果子咖啡（台北市松山區民生東路三段140巷11號，TEL: 02-87705330，提供Wi-Fi無線上網）。

聚會中，會介紹OpenOffice 3.4的新功能，及OpenOffice的未來展望。OpenOffice轉移給Apache基金會後，這一年來，發生了什麼事？未來又會怎麼走？大家一定有很多疑問，也有很多話想說。歡迎大家一起來七嘴八舌吧！

社群開發模式「 The Apache Way 」

OpenOffice 基本系統最初是在 1990 年代由 Star Division 開發，分別在 1999 年和 2010 年被昇陽電腦和甲骨文公司購併，並在 2010 年中轉移給 Apache 軟體基金會。

目前團隊由開發者、測試者、翻譯者等各種志工組成，透過俗稱為「 The Apache Way 」的流程運作，並有來自全球上百位的開放源始碼志工共同支援。

「從十年前的初版發表到現在，在 Apache 下的 OpenOffice 第一個版本 3.4 版，揭開了 OpenOffice 歷史上嶄新的一頁。」 RedMonk 的首席分析師 Stephen O'Grady 指出。「經過幾個月的努力， OpenOffice 得以用新的授權釋出，更能吸引全球使用者、開發者和獨立軟體商。」

The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.5.3

Berlin, May 2, 2012 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.5.3, the fourth version of the 3.5 family. LibreOffice 3.5.3 provides additional stability to corporate and individual users of the best free office suite ever.

In April 2012, 34 new developers contributed code to The Document Foundation, the largest number since January 2011 [Source: http://www.ohloh.net]. Eight of them have already committed more than once, thanks to the help of an extremely welcoming community, where old developers spend a portion of their time mentoring new ones to bring them up to speed, comments Norbert Thiebaud, a volunteer developer active since September 28, 2010. In less than two years, we have been able to build an authentically diverse community, where full time and volunteer developers coexist and help each other, as it should happen in every free software project.

Ten of the new developers are Google Summer of Code 2012 students, who will work at developing the following features:

Calc performance improvements;

Lightproof improvements;

collaborative spreadsheet editing using Telepathy;

a Microsoft Publisher import filter;

a signed PDF export;

a smartphone remote control;

a new UI for picking templates;

a Java based GUI for an Android viewer;

an improved Impress SVG export filter;

tooling for more and better tests.

Berlin, March 15, 2012 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.5.1, the second version of the 3.5 family, targeting private individuals and enterprises. LibreOffice 3.5.1 fixes the majority of the most-important bugs identified by users and is expected to be appealing for most enterprises.

TDF encourages large organizations to deploy LibreOffice in conjunction with a support partner, who can assess specific requirements, help manage migration and provide bespoke fixes for identified issues. Purchasing LibreOffice support from a TDF partner provides enterprises with an indirect means to contribute financially to the project, to fund software development, to improve the stability and accelerate the growth.

“During the last month, the number of TDF hackers has overtaken the threshold of 400 code developers, with a large majority of independent volunteers and several companies paying full time hackers. In any case, the project is independent, as none of these companies employs more than 7% of the developers”, affirms Italo Vignoli, member of the Board of Directors. “Since September 2010, a monthly average of 20 new hackers has joined the project, attracted by the copyleft license, the lack of copyright assignment and a welcoming environment”.

OpenOffice核心開發團隊首度有臺灣人

轉貼。雖然有些地方過度解釋了我的意思。 ^^; 更正幾個報導錯誤的地方：

我沒有被「通過審核」，我是直接加入的。我加入的時候PMC正在成形中，沒有上級單位可以審核。
我只是舉例中文問題時，提到有「字形破裂」的問題，並沒有說修好了。修好的只有字數。
「開發團隊也進行了OpenOffice文件的中文翻譯工作」，我受訪當時說的是中文團隊，指的是Mouettee、凱如、Eric你們。 ^^;
「4.0介面將採用類似Ribbon設計」，我受訪當時是說「4.0將像Ribbon、 iWorks一樣有漂亮的介面」。4.0的界面不會像Ribbon。想預覽4.0的漂亮使用界面，請參照IBM Lotus Symphony 3.0.1。

OpenOffice核心開發團隊首度有臺灣人

OpenOffice出現首位加入核心開發團隊的臺灣人，即將推出的3.4新版已解決多年來正體中文的使用問題，未來也能加速修正正體中文使用問題

去年6月Apache基金會從甲骨文接手OpenOffice後，正式將OpenOffice更名為Apache OpenOffice，並成立專門委員會負責OpenOffice的後續軟體開發與維護工作，臺灣開源社群開發者楊士青已通過審核進入成為該委員會成員之一，這是首次有正體中文開發者進入OpenOffice核心開發團隊。

楊士青表示，未來正體中文問題將更容易獲得改善，Apache OpenOffice 3.4新版已特別修正中文使用問題，包含字形破裂以及字數計算錯誤等問題，Apache預計數月內正式釋出3.4版。

OpenOffice是一套開源的辦公室軟體，由昇陽（Sun Microsystems）在1999年自一家德國公司StarDivision買下， 2002年推出OpenOffice 1.0版，一直到昇陽被甲骨文併購之前，OpenOffice的開發工作仍持續由StarDivision負責，並歷經多次改版，直到OpenOffice 3.2版。目前可供下載的最新版本為甲骨文接手期間唯一釋出的OpenOffice 3.3版。

核心開發團隊首次加入正體中文開發者

雖然OpenOffice是屬於開源軟體，全球社群可以透過網路將所發現的問題提供給開發者。不過，楊士青表示，開源社群成員真正能參與OpenOffice正式版本的開發工作，是直到Apache基金會成立專責委員會之後。他指出，過去昇陽允許StarDivision擁有相當大的獨立性，再加上StarDivision不是以開源起家的公司，開發流程並不傾向開放，「導致外界對於OpenOffice的開發工作一直有不得其門而入的感覺，因此，許多老舊的程式問題也一直沒有修正。」楊士青說。

這個問題在中文使用上更為明顯，比如說，中文字形在不同系統環境下開啟時，時常出現不支援的情況，也就是俗稱的「字破掉」，以及中文字數統計錯誤等問題，這些OpenOffice早就存在的問題都遲遲未獲解決。在首次有正體中文開發者進入核心開發團隊後，楊士青表示，除了這些問題將在3.4版解決之外，開發團隊也進行了 OpenOffice文件的中文翻譯工作，補足四千多條未譯條目，將更有利於未來中文使用者使用。

4.0介面將採用類似Ribbon設計

OpenOffice還有另一個轉變就是IBM在1月底時也宣布將所擁有的免費辦公室軟體Lotus Symphony 3.0.1捐給OpenOffice交由Apache基金會接手，其中包括他們從2007年以後所投入在該軟體的開發、管理、行銷人力。

這代表IBM提供的資源將大大影響OpenOffice未來發展，楊士青表示，最大的改變是使用者介面將更活潑，類似Ribbon、iWorks使用介面的視覺化效果出現，最快在OpenOffice 4.0就會實現這些功能，但4.0版預計要到2013年以後才會正式釋出。

另外，隨著OpenOffice轉到Apache基金會，授權方式也從原先的LGPL 轉換成Apache授權模式，兩者之間並不相容，使得OpenOffice有許多過去採用 LGPL授權的程式碼都必須以Apache授權或相容於Apache授權的授權方式釋出的程式碼重新撰寫，楊士青表示，3.4版的原始碼將大幅改變，但原先具有的功能並不會有差別。文⊙辜雅蕾

（其實是正好前兩天有iThome的專訪，所以整理了一下新功能。 ^^; ）

在眾人的努力之下， Apache OpenOffice 過幾個月即將釋出。這段期間 Apache OpenOffice Project Management Committee 不斷努力，將 GPL 的 OpenOffice.org 改寫為 Apache License 的 Apache OpenOffice 。這部份的工作已經完工，開發程式碼也已經上線。目前大家正在努力做 3.4 版釋出前的結案工作，務求在最短時間內，呈現一個全新又讓大家滿意的 Apache OpenOffice 3.4 。

在正式釋出前，我們先來搶先看看， Apache OpenOffice 3.4 版有哪些新的改變。

OpenOffice.org 正式改名為 Apache OpenOffice ： OpenOffice.org 去年四月由 Oracle 轉移給 Apache 軟體基金會管理， 3.4 版是由 Apache 軟體基金會管理下的第一個釋出版本。我們討論過後，決定去掉茸長的 .org ，以 Apache OpenOffice 新名釋出。
中文翻譯更新：去年四月在中文團隊不眠不休的努力之下，翻整了 OpenOffice.org 的翻譯，除了補足四千多條未譯條目，更依一般辦公室軟體中文約定成俗用法、第一線推廣者的推廣經驗等，全面翻新舊有的翻譯。如今這些翻譯即將在 Apache OpenOffice 3.4 上釋出。在釋出前還會有最後的翻譯校正，也請大家一起來協助，讓 Apache OpenOffice 的中文更好。
中文字數修正：字數，是辦公室軟體的商業關鍵應用。翻譯、出版業的稿酬計算，甚至是學校學生作業等，均需依賴正確的字數計算。過往 OpenOffice.org 團隊因沒有亞洲語系的開發人力，字數問題長期無解。 Apache OpenOffice 在中文開發人力的加入後，已經修正了中文字數問題了。
Data Pilot 資料助理改名 Pivot Table 樞鈕分析表：微軟 Excel 的樞鈕分析表，在 OpenOffice.org Calc 下叫做資料助理，讓很多第一線的推廣者、使用者深感困擾。這個問題在 3.4 版後已解決， OpenOffice.org Calc 的資料助理 Data Pilot 中英文，均改名為樞鈕分析表 Pivot Table 。
支援 SVG 向量圖檔：不管在 Writer 、 Calc 、 Impress 、 Draw ，讓你的專業美術版面設計，更能發揮得淋漓盡至。
Impress 頁面配置簡化。
支援 ODF 1.2 版開放文件格式。
Apache OpenOffice 的開放原始碼版權，由 GPL 變更為 Apache License ：變更為 Apache License 意味著全面翻新的程式碼，及更多的自由，希望全新的程式碼和授權，能夠帶來更穩定的版本、更公開的參與、更廣泛的應用。

Berlin, February 14, 2012 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.5, the third major release of “the best free office suite ever”, which shows to end users the improvements derived from the development strategy adopted since September 2010. LibreOffice 3.5 derives from the combined effort of full time hackers – the largest group of experienced OOo code developers – and volunteer hackers, coordinated by the Engineering Steering Committee.

During 16 months, an average of 80 developers each month have provided a total of over thirty thousand code commits, introducing new and interesting features:

In addition, for the first time in the history of LibreOffice, we will be enabling the online update checker, which informs users when a new version of the suite is available.

“We inherited a 15 years old code base, where features were not implemented and bugs were not solved in order to avoid creating problems, and this – with time – was the origin of a large technical debt,” says Caolán McNamara, a senior RedHat developer who is one of the founders and directors of TDF. “We had two options: a conservative strategy, which would immediately please all users, leaving the code basically unchanged, and our more aggressive feature development and code renovation path, which has created some stability problems in the short term but is rapidly leading to a completely new and substantially improved free office suite: LibreOffice 3.5, the best free office suite ever.”

“In sixteen months, we have achieved incredible results – comments Michael Meeks, a SUSE Distinguished Engineer, who is also a founder and director at TDF – with nearly three hundred entirely new developers to the project, attracted by the copyleft license, the lack of copyright assignment and a welcoming environment. In addition to the visible features, they’ve translated tens of thousands of German comments, removed thousands of unused or obsolete methods – sometimes whole libraries – and grown a suite of automated tests. Although we still have a long way to go, users – who have sometimes complained for the stability of the software, as they were not aware of the technical debt we were fighting with – can now benefit from a substantially cleaner, leaner and more feature rich LibreOffice 3.5.”

LibreOffice 3.5 is the first release where the contribution of local communities and associations, such as ALTA in Brazil, has been acknowledged. In addition, TDF tried to recognize those volunteers – where we could easily identify them – who put so much into the 3.5 release, with a “hacking” or “bug hunting” hero badge presented the same day of the announcement. TDF is encouraging the development of a global, open and diverse ecosystem where companies, associations, local communities and volunteers share the common objective of developing the best free office suite ever.

The Document Foundation invites power users to install LibreOffice 3.5, and more conservative users to stick with LibreOffice 3.4 branch. Corporate users are strongly advised to deploy LibreOffice with the backing of professional support, from a company able to assist with migration, end user training, support and maintenance. The Document Foundation will soon provide a list of certified organizations providing these professional services.

Berlin, February 23rd, 2012 – The Document Foundation (TDF) today announced LibreOffice for Windows from SUSE is now available in the Intel AppUpSM Center, an online repository designed for Intel® processor-based devices. Intel is also becoming a member of TDF Advisory Board, a body that provides advice and funding for the LibreOffice project.

LibreOffice for Windows from SUSE is available in Intel AppUp Center as a special, five-language version featuring English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. As a validated Intel AppUpSM Center app, LibreOffice for Windows from SUSE features a new, smooth, silent installation flow and improved uninstallation cleanup.

“I have been using LibreOffice from day one for presentations at conferences and for data analysis,” said Dawn Foster, open source community lead, Intel. “Our engineers have worked with the LibreOffice codebase to optimise it for Intel hardware. Adding it to the AppUpSM Center is an obvious extension, and will provide an exciting feature for all Ultrabook users.”

日本福岡市農會改用LibreOffice! ^_*'

日本福岡市農業協同組合轉用LibreOffice

日本福岡市農業協同組合(JA福岡市)在2011年12月6日，宣布引入LibreOffice代替MS Office。JA福岡市約有400台電腦，當中7成電腦今後將不再購買MS Office，可望節省840萬日元開支。

日本在全國各地都有農業協同組合(JA)，這是JA首次在地區辦事處引入開源辦公室套件。LibreOffice是OpenOffice.org的衍生版本，由OpenOffice.org開團隊離開Oracle後設立的非牟利團體Document Foundation所開發。JA福岡市沒有採用OpenOffice.org，反而採用了LibreOffice，原因是後者對MS Office的相容性較佳，加上負責開發的Document Foundation在體制上較為完善。

文件格式使用ODF(OpenDocument Format)亦是JA福岡市採用LibreOffice的原因之一。ODF是以XML為基礎的文件格式，已經被國際標準化機構ISO和日本工業規格 JIS承認為標準規格。JA福岡市負責人表示「使用MS Office時，也經常出現新舊版本無法相容的現象，採用國際標準規格的ODF，今後便可避免出現這樣的狀況。」目前日本已經有數個地方政府辦事處採用了OpenOffice.org，包括會津若松市、四國中央市、大阪府交野市等等，同樣以ODF作為文件格式。

JA福岡市在3年起，已經參考會津若松市進行文件格式的轉移，經驗證相容性後，在2011年春天決定採用LibreOffice。文字文件偶爾會出現邊框位置移位的現象，這些文件經修正後已經重新儲存為ODF格式。培訓方面，JA福岡市購買了70本由OpenOffice.org日本用戶協會編寫的書籍，除此之外沒有其他培訓方面的開支。JA福岡市亦把引入LibreOffice的經驗和常見問答，編輯成免費的PDF文書「從LibreOffice 開始用開源」，並在2011年12月27日起在官方網站上公開。

On 1 June 2011, Oracle Corporation submitted the OpenOffice.org code base to The Apache Software Foundation. That submission was accepted, and the project is now being developed as a podling in the Apache Incubator under the ASF's meritocratic process informally dubbed "The Apache Way".

OpenOffice.org is now officially part of the Apache family.

The project is known as Apache OpenOffice.org (incubating).

Over its 12-year history, the ASF has welcomed contributions from individuals and organizations alike, but, as a policy, does not solicit code donations. The OpenOffice.org code base was not pursued by the ASF prior to its acceptance into the Apache Incubator.

The Apache OpenOffice.org Podling Project Management Committee (PPMC) and Committer list are nearly 10 times greater than those of other projects in the Apache Incubator, demonstrating the tremendous interest in this project.

As with many highly-visible products, there has been speculation and conjecture about the future of OpenOffice.org at Apache. More recently, destructive statements have been published by both members of the greater FOSS community and former contributors to the original OpenOffice.org product, suggesting that the project has failed during the 18 weeks since its acceptance into the Apache Incubator.

Whilst the ASF operates in the open –our code and project mailing lists are publicly accessible– ASF governance permits for projects to make information and code freely available when the project deems them ready to be released. Apache OpenOffice.org is not at risk.

As an end-user-facing product, OpenOffice.org is unique in comparison to the other nearly 170 products currently being developed, incubated, and shepherded at the ASF. Considered to be "ingredient brands", countless competing Web server, Cloud computing, data handling, and other solutions behind the products serving millions of users worldwide are, unbeknown to most, "Powered by Apache".

And we're OK with that.

More than 70 project Committers are actively collaborating to ensure that the future of the OpenOffice.org code base and community are in alignment with The Apache Way. The project's extensive plans include assessing the elements necessary to update a product that hasn't had an official release in nearly a year; parts of the product's functionality encumbered by non-Apache-Licensed components; and a code base that has been forked and maintained by a community pursuing market dominance. As such, it is critical that we remain pragmatic about the project's next steps during this transition phase.

We understand that stakeholders of a project with a 10+ year history --be they former product managers or casual users-- may be unfamiliar with The Apache Way and question its methods. Those following the project's migration to process and culture unique to the Apache community may challenge the future sustainability of the project.

Such concerns are not atypical with the incubation of Open Source projects with well-established communities -- the successful graduation of Apache Subversion and Apache SpamAssassin, among others, are proof that The Apache Way works.

As an all-volunteer organization, we do not compensate any contributors to develop Apache code. We do, however, support those individuals with relevant expertise to pursue consulting/remuneration opportunities with interested parties, but must reiterate that they are barred from doing so on behalf of the ASF or any Apache initiatives -- be they Top-level Projects (TLPs) or emerging products in the Apache Incubator and Labs. Otherwise, they would be in violation of the Apache trademark policy, which the ASF strongly defends in order to protect its communities.

At the ASF, the answer is openness, not further fragmentation. There is ample room for multiple solutions in the marketplace that are Powered by Apache. We welcome differences of opinion: a requirement at Apache is that a healthy project be supported by an open, diverse community comprising multiple organizations and individual contributors.

We congratulate the LibreOffice community on their success over their inaugural year and wish them luck in their future endeavors. We look forward to opening up the dialogue between Open Document Format-oriented communities to deepen understanding and cease the unwarranted spread of misinformation.

We welcome input and participation in the form of constructive contributions to Apache OpenOffice.org. There are myriad ways to help, from code development and documentation to community relations and "help desk" forums support to licensing and localization, and more.

The way to move this forward is via the ASF, which owns the OpenOffice.org trademark and official code base. This is our chance to be able to pull together our talents towards a cohesive goal and protect the project's ecosystem.

At a minimum, we owe that to the hundreds of millions of users of OpenOffice.org.

During the LibreOffice Conference, The Document Foundation has announced:

* LibreOffice Online Prototype: you can watch a demo video at the following address:
http://people.gnome.org/~michael/data/2011-10-10-lool-demo.webm. LibreOffice Online is based on GTK+ framework and HTML5′s canvas, and has been developed by SUSE’s Michael Meeks, built on GTK+ broadway from RedHat’s Alex Laarson.

* LibreOffice port project to Android and iOS, based on the voluntary work of Tor Lillqvist, a SUSE finnish developer know for having ported GIMP to Windows. The LibreOffice Android and iOS port has the objective of bringing the office suite to iPads and Android tablets, and eventually smaller devices. The user interface work has yet to start in earnest but the bulk of the code is compiling.

Please note that these are not products available to end users, but advanced development projects which will become products sometimes in late 2012 or early 2013.

* 500.000 desktops, mostly Windows, at several French Government entities switching from OpenOffice to LibreOffice (this increases the Windows installed base of LibreOffice by 5% in a single move)

The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.4.3
The Internet, August 31, 2011 – The Document Foundation (TDF) maintains the speedy pace of LibreOffice development with the announcement of version 3.4.3, intended for enterprise deployments. The new release arrives two weeks after version 3.3.4 (intended for more-conservative users) and one month after the previous release of the 3.4 family, which provides a larger feature set based on cleaner and leaner code. TDF maintains two editions of LibreOffice to satisfy the needs of a large and diverse user base, although we strongly recommend everyone to update to the 3.4 series in the near future. LibreOffice 3.4.2 has already been deployed by users at Itaipu Binacional in Brazil, the largest electrical power plant in the world, and has been key for the launch of a large migration project involving 25,000 desktops by Copenhagen hospitals in Denmark. From September 2nd to September 4th, the LibreOffice community will host this year’s Hackfest together with the Linux Migration Project of the city of Munich in Germany (http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Hackfest2011). The meeting has the objective of improving the collaboration between TDF and corporate users of LibreOffice, in order to better match the time based release schedule with the needs of organizations with very large deployments of the office suite. LibreOffice 3.4.3 is immediately available for download in over 100 language versions from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/. I’m sending this with my IBM hat.

I’m going to be speaking at the ODF Plugfest in Berlin Friday afternoon, and will be making some announcements. I wanted you to hear this first, before anyone else knows.

You know about IBM Lotus Symphony, our free (as in beer) product which is based on OOo. We’re doing well with it, I think. Along with various numerous interop, performance enhancements and functional/bug fixes, we’ve done some significant work in the accessibility and user interface in general. If you saw recently, PC Magazine gave Symphony 3.0 its Editors’ Choice Award [1]. In the review they praised the interface that’s been tweaked by IBM to make it by far the user-friendliest no-cost productivity suite, and one’s that’s friendly enough to rival the spacious and informative interface that Microsoft created for Office 2010 and that Apple created for iWork ’09. So the UI enhancements are getting some notice.

However, we at IBM have not been exemplary community members when it came to OpenOffice.org. This wasn’t necessarily by design, but for various reasons, that was the effect. Yes, we participated in various community councils, and sponsored conferences and worked together on standards. But when it came down to the code, we maintained Symphony essentially as a fork, and although we occasionally contributed code back, we did not do this well, or often.

We’d like to make some changes in how we do things, and the fresh start at Apache is a good opportunity for this.

We will be doing the following:

First, we’re going to contribute the standalone version of Lotus Symphony to the Apache OpenOffice.org project, under the Apache 2.0 license. We’ll also work with project members to prioritize which pieces make sense to integrate into OpenOffice. For example, we’ve already done a lot of work with replacing GPL/LPGL dependencies. Using the Symphony code could help accelerate that work and get us to an AOOo release faster. We’ve already converted the help files to DITA, which could help accelerate that work, if we chose to go in that direction.

Aside from the work that would help accelerate getting AOOo to our first release, we’ve also added other features that I think we should consider merging in. For example, the IAccessible2 work which helps Symphony work better with assistive technology. I know an older version of this work sits in an OOo CWS someplace, but it will be easier to integrate that work if we start with our latest code. We’ve also added VBA macro support, which is great for MS Office interop.

Also, as the PC Magazine review notes, we’ve done some really good UI work. I invite you to download Symphony [2] and take a closer look at this. Yes, it is different from what OOo has today. And a move of that magnitude has an impact on documentation and translations as well. But the feedback we’ve received from customers and reviewers is very positive. Do we integrate parts of the Symphony UI? That is something for the project to discuss and decide on.

Finally, we will be proposing [3] a new incubation project at Apache, for the ODF Toolkit. These Java libraries enable new kinds of lightweight document processing applications. We think this would work well as an Apache project, and we look forward to moving that into incubation and developing that complementary project forward.

So that’s essentially what I’ll be announcing on Friday. The above contributions will occur over the next couple of months, starting with the ODF Toolkit. I hope you see the exciting possibilities as much as I do.

用OpenOffice.org，可以做到什麼？寫文件？做統計？寫巨集匯入匯出資料？用Impress特效做炫炫的簡報？去年，在時間的壓力下，我把整個Talk本身包裝為一個危險的Live Demo，展示了簡報搖控器、文件自動處理和即時資料處理；今年，我想做更瘋狂的事，嚐試去年限於時間壓力無法完成的瘋狂構想，挑戰OpenOffice.org能做到的極限。或許這也不是極限。或許OpenOffice.org其實沒有極限，極限只在於你的想像力。

"Given the breadth of interest in free personal productivity applications and the rapid evolution of personal computing technologies, we believe the OpenOffice.org project would be best managed by an organization focused on serving that broad constituency on a non-commercial basis," said Edward Screven, Oracle’s Chief Corporate Architect. "We intend to begin working immediately with community members to further the continued success of Open Office. Oracle will continue to strongly support the adoption of open standards-based document formats, such as the Open Document Format (ODF)."

大家好。台南縣市合併後，感謝Tad老師，讓OOo補給站得以在新的大台南縣網 http://ooo.tn.edu.tw/ 重新開張，並將站務轉移給OOo台灣社群一起經營。

因為是在新主機和新版Xoops上重新開張，有不穩定或任何問題，請隨時回報。

新站重新規劃，除劃出LibreOffice和EducOOo/OOo4Kids專區外，另更區分出開發者討論區、教育推廣討論區、中文化討論區、一般使用者討論區等。希望能夠藉由不同領域的朋友共同努力，分享大家的成果，讓台灣本地的OOo社群，在不同的領域，都能夠百花盛開。

Sun 推出 odf plugin for MS Office：

下載安裝後，MS Office就可以產生odt檔，也可以開啟odt檔來編輯。中文一切正常！

另外社群也研發類似的東西，檔案比較小，不過，它有分Word、Excel、PowerPoint...等版本。

本站修正註冊bug

由於九月中旬將本站升級為XOOPS 2.2.4二合一版，
當時版本中的xoopsmailer.php部份尚有bug，
所以，導致查詢密碼或註冊時的認證信寄發時都會有一片空白之情況產生。
因而無法完成註冊之動作，
小弟在此像這些無法註冊的網友致歉～

剛剛已經完成更新，並將尚未啟動之帳號都予以啟動之。
故知前若有未完成註冊者，可以直接以當時之帳號密碼登入了。

此外，也將本站之註冊方式改為送出表單後即啟用，無須再收認證信。

開源軟體被盯上　惡意軟體開始發動進攻

業內專家稱，最近出現的OpenOffice蠕蟲也閉O一種跡象，表明惡意軟體作者正開始把攻擊目標對準了日益流行的開源軟體。市場研究公司IDC亞太區軟體研究事業部研究經理Wilvin Chee在接受ZDNet Asia網站採訪時表示，OpenOffice蠕蟲可能是一個孤立的事件。但是，它也可能是一種跡象，表明惡意軟體作者正開始把目標對準日益流行的開源軟體。Chee說，我們必須要觀察針對開源軟體的惡意軟體的數量。新聞原文網址：

可能有些人有嬝板penOffice.org的檔案的需求，但並不希望裝完整的一整套OpenOffice.org，那麼，就可以參考一下底下這篇文章，裡面就有提到三種ODF嬝知飽A可以拿來當作OpenOffice.org viewer：

關於支援ODF開放文件格式的免費軟體

小弟試了一下這三種軟體，一些心得與大家分享：
Fellowship ODF Viewer：自由軟體，弁鉰眾獢A除了開啟以外就沒別的了，連列印也沒有。但可正常讀取odt檔，中文字都正常，但讀出的格式會有點類似網頁，而非原始的紙張設定大小，所以遇到分欄的狀況，頁面的排版會跑掉。

TextMaker ODF Viewer：支援的格式多，弁鄐]多，可以搜尋、列印、傳真等，常見的文書格式都支援，包括doc，有簡體中文介面。應該不是自由軟體，但可免費使用。部份有套用字型的中文字會有點問題，顯示的頁面會以原設定紙張大小來呈現，但遇到分欄或文字框一樣沒轍。

Firefox ODF Reader則是以擴充套件的方式來呈現，可以開啟odt沒問題，但是只能呈現純文字，其他什麼都沒有，算是很陽春。

共同的特性是：字型一定都出不來，而且排版或多或少都會有點問題，排版越複雜的檔案月容易跑掉。

所以，若只是想看內容，那是OK的。若是要完整嬝版峖C印，那麼還是建議裝一套OpenOffice.org，或者請原作者釋出pdf檔。

法軍方質疑OpenOffice安全性

微軟：OpenDocument太慢了

微軟批評OpenDocument Format，並宣稱自家的Office Open XML格式執行效能顯然比較強。

微軟資訊工作者策略總經理Alan Yates引用ZDNet.com所做的一項研究報告，這分報告比較OpenOffice.org 2.0與微軟Office 2003的XML格式。

但ODF Alliance總監Marino Marcich說，這種比較不公平，因為並未測試Open XML本身，而且只單挑OpenDocument Format (ODF)一種應用來檢驗。

他表示，OpenOffice.org起初並未為ODF最佳化，但將來會。

Yates說，上週歐洲標準組織ECMA International已發佈Open XML規格草案，年底前可望核准。

給 MS Office 使用的 OpenDocument Plugin

五月三日，美國麻薩諸塞州 (Massachusetts) 政府向公眾發出情報諮詢 (RFI - Request For Information) 的文件，希望查探有關 OpenDocument (ODF) plug-ins for Microsoft Office 現時存在的方案及可行性。五月四日，OpenDocument 基金會回應這個 OpenDocument Plugin 已經完成測試，可以準備提供使用。OpenDocument 基金會能夠這麼快作出回應，的確富有戲劇性的意味。

據 Linux Watch 的作家 Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols 報導，這個 OpenDocument Plugin 是由外界捐獻給 OpenDocument 基金會，並且跟 Google 協商而達成的。現時該基金會正考慮把這個 Plugin 附運在 GooglePack 內，藉此逹至廣範流傳和普及的目標。

此 Plugin 可安裝在 MS Office 97, 2000, XP 及 2003 的版本，因此釵h舊系統的用戶都能受惠。不過，基金會暫時仍未決定最後的散佈方案，所以，可能仍要等一些時間才能見識這個 Plugin 的真面目。

倘若這個 Plugin 真的能跟 OpenDocument 格式 100% 相容，那麼 OpenOffice.org 跟 MS Office 不能「完整地」互通文件的日子，將會成為歷史。

世界是屬於能夠推動改變的人，而 OpenDocument 的出現，正是推動著這樣的一個重大改變。別管你用哪個 Office 軟件，只要儲存成 OpenDocument 格式，我們便能溝通。這樣，產品之間便能真正地在弁鄔M價格上競爭。一般網頁製作的軟件 (像 Dreamweaver) 產生的 HTML 文件，都能在其他網頁設計軟件開啟，為何辦公室文件要例外呢？

讓軟件產品之間有競爭之餘，用戶若因而要飽受不相容問題的困擾，豈非無辜哉？OpenDocument 的發展，正要把這個長期困擾的問題拋諸腦後，讓辦公室文件的交換和 XML SOA 電子商務的應用更為普及；讓每個用戶有更多自由去選擇合適自己平台和付擔能力的辦公室軟件，這正是世界和市場向前邁步的表現。

Open Document通過成為國際標準

Open Document周二晚間獲得國際標準組織(ISO)通過成為檔案格式標準，為開原碼文件格式的推展再下一城。

釵h生產力應用，像是OpenOffice 2.0、昇陽StarOffice 8與IBM Workplace都支援Open Document。不過微軟並未支援，反而另外尋求建立Office Open XML標準。

微軟表示將會以相容性支援Open Document，而不會在任何組織中反對其標準化。

然而微軟負責標準事務的主管Jason Matusow在聲明稿中指出，「ODF格式弁鄍u限於Open Office及Staroffice使用，無法滿足今天大部份的微軟Office用戶需求。」

在釋出 Linux OOO 2.0 中文加強版的同時 (含 Patch 及 Source code )
晟鑫科技也完成了 Windows 平台的版本，
原本預定連同 Linux 的成果一起在 Opendesktop 計畫網站釋出，提供大家使用。
但受限於 Windows 平台部分必要元件之授權規定，
這個版本無法放在公開的網站中讓大家下載使用。
除非獲得微軟公司的正式野i。
否則短期內晟鑫科技與 Opendesktop 計畫不會也不該冒這個法律風險。

晟鑫科技目前有提供企業有關 OpenOffice.org 的轉移服務，
在這項服務中會免費提供 Windows 平台的版本，
其他的發行方式也正在努力中。

政府：文書軟體以開放標準為依歸

政府高層指出，政府不會特定指明使用哪一家文書軟體，端視能不能符合開放標準。

負責制定政府軟硬體採購規範標準的研考會處長何全德日前表示，基於公文交換的需求，政府首要重視所使用的產品能否遵守開放標準。而他也表示，目前政府公文交換已有釵h是基於開放標準格式而進行。

近年來Office在全球公部門間屢遭挫敗。特別是美國麻州政府宣佈採用OpenDocument作為公文交換與儲存的標準。而我國在Linux促進會等自由軟體人士前年起力促政府採購「去微軟化」，並發起阿里山計畫推動自由軟體後，今年會議再增加文件格式部份。

麻州歡迎微軟Office標準

麻州州長辦公室表示，微軟將Office文件格式標準化的努力，符合四州邦聯（麻州、賓州、肯塔基州與維吉尼亞州）的採購法規。

麻州州長Mitt Romney上週三（23日）發出的聲明表示，州政府對於微軟的Office Open XML文件格式將符合「開放格式」的法定標準，感到樂觀。

麻州政府於今年9月制定一套技術標準，州政府的內部系統將全面改用非專有的文件格式。在審議過程中，州政府IT部門將微軟的Office界定為專有產品，而非「開放格式」。因此，州政府決定，所有行政單位的桌面生產力應用軟體，都必須支持微軟並不支援的OpenDocument標準。 Adobe的PDF也被麻州視為「開放」格式。

微軟把Office 12格式送交歐洲標準組織ECMA International，已引發產業觀察者強烈關切。

這家軟體巨人周一表示預計花一年將稱為Microsoft Office Open XML的格式製作出具有完整文件的標準。

但分析機構Ovum研究總監Gary Barnett周二對此舉能否讓Office格式走向「真正開放」表示質疑。

「微軟只是稍稍把它的專屬文件格式開放一些些而已，」Barnett說，唯有微軟把控制權全部交給標準團體才能稱得上是開放標準。

如果XML檔案格式控制權還是握在微軟手中，它就能任意變更標準讓想實作這個標準的廠商永遠跟不上，Barnett說。

來自國外網站的報導，微軟將提交其Office(指ms office 12)所支援之xml技術產生之文件格式予國際標準組織ISO，此舉同時宣告其Office所用之文件格式將成為開放標準(參考 Microsoft to open Office document format)

對此報導，反微軟資訊新聞直指微軟此舉是藉開放之名，企圖壓制對手OpenDocument文件標準；此外，文件格式開放完全不代表開發者可以任意自行發展支援該格式的軟體

此一動作無疑是微軟針對Office產品市場所受到的威脅，決定從標準之爭的路線所採取的正面回擊措施，至於所引發的效應為何尚有待持續的觀察。

用 OpenOffice 2.0 開啟 SVG 向量圖檔

若您手頭有一堆 SVG 向量圖檔(如 openclipart)，卻無法使用 OpenOffice 2.0 直接開啟，可以試試以下這個套件。

下載 svg-import-r2009.uno.zip 之後，在 OpenOffice.org 2.0 內使用「/工具/套裝軟體管理工具」去「增加」這個 zip 檔就好(不必先解壓)。重點是與 OS 平台無關。

2. SUN JRE 5.0

IBM及Sun在上周五（11/4）號召近十家科技業者協商如何共同推動開放文件格式（OpenDocument format；ODF），以對抗微軟主導多年的辦公室軟體格式，與會業者包括Apple、Computer Associates International（CA）、Intel、Google、Red Hat、Corel、Oracle、Adobe、 OpenOffice.org及Nokia。

IBM開放原始碼及標準部門副總裁Bob Sutor近日透露，他們已形成一個正式的計畫，將推動開放文件格式（ODF）成為辦公室應用軟體的全球標準。

麻州官員抨擊OpenDocument決策

美國麻州(Massachusetts)官員抨擊採用OpenDocument的決策，使得這項計畫的執行蒙上陰影。

參議院督察委員會主席Marc Pacheco週一主持一項聽證會，調查麻州通過在2007年所有政府單位都必須採用OpenDocument標準的決策流程有無疏失。

這項政策是在今年九月由麻州行政財務處下轄的資訊科技局所制訂。

該IT部門表示OpenDocument產品可改善系統之間的相容性，並確保官方文件的永久保留性。該文件格式標準是由OASIS機構所制訂通過。

現行或未來會支援OpenDocument格式的商業軟體包括昇陽的StarOffice、IBM的Workplace與開放原始碼產品OpenOffice。

在聽證會上，Pacheco對這項決策提出多項質疑，包括資訊局是否有足夠的權限來制訂此一決策，以及逼走微軟產品所造成的成本損失等。他另表示OpenDocument格式不符殘障人士的使用需求。

在聽證會上，資訊局局長Peter Quinn與法務長Linda Hamel都極力捍衛此一決策，表示開放的格式會優於微軟專屬的XML格式，且可確保電子文件在數百年後還是可以被嬝炕C

經過兩天的更新，已將本站更新至xoops2.2.3，並將新聞區以及討論區的模組進行更新，部份比較少在用的模組已將之移除。

由於新聞區在更新時出了一點問題（直接升級時無法設定權限），由於本站新聞大部分都已過了時效，所以，就乾脆重新安裝啦！

此外，由於評論資料是跟著模組跑的，而本站的模組已全部重裝，因此，評論資料也難以做轉移的動作（不是不能轉，而是很麻煩），所以，這部份也就不進行轉移了！

Google要協助改善OpenOffice

Google計畫招聘程式人員來改善OpenOffice.org，顯示該公司對開放原始碼計畫依然情有獨鍾。

OpenOffice源自於昇陽StarOffice套裝程式，五年前昇陽捐出該軟體另立一個開放原始碼專案。但直到最近，這個相當於微軟Office的競爭產品才獲得真正的注意。

Google開放原始碼經理Chris DiBona表示，Google目前認為該公司可幫OpenOffice作點事情，比如減少該軟體所需的記憶體需求，或者降低下載檔案的大小(目前高達80MB)。

「我們想多找幾個人來協助改進OpenOffice。」DiBona表示。

程式設計師20日喜孜孜地發布大幅翻新的OpenOffice.org第二版，與微軟Office競爭的實力更上一層樓。這套開放原始碼辦公室套應n體包括文書處理器、試算表、簡報軟體在內，2.0版並新增資料庫軟體。

OpenOffice.org計畫籌備人員原本打算在上周發布，慶祝這項開原碼計畫成立滿五周年，但最後緊要關頭發現程式有臭蟲，因而延至今日推出。

支持者對這套軟體有很高的期部C昇陽總裁Jonathan Schwartz說：「OpenOffice.org正朝成為世界史上使用者最多辦公室套應n體的目標邁進。」昇陽是OpenOffice.org開發計畫的最初贊助者，但後來紅帽公司（Red Hat）、Novell、英特爾、Propylon以及獨立軟體開發人員也陸續提供程式設計協助。

OASIS為OpenDocument申請ISO標準認證

OASIS已向國際標準組織(ISO)提交OpenDocument文件格式，希望獲得ISO認證為標準，讓開放原始碼的桌上型應用程式更受到政府機構的青睞。

全名是「結構化資訊標準推動組織」(Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards)的OASIS表示，已把OpenDocument交給ISO審核。OpenDocument是一套儲存桌上型文件的規格，適用於各種桌上型應用程式，包括文書處理、試算表和簡報軟體。

第一版的OpenDocument今年稍早獲得OASIS批准，且已獲得開原碼套應n體OpenOffice採用。

一名昇陽公司（Sun Microsystems）高層表示，OpenDocument具有改變世界的潛力。

昇陽的網路科技經理Tim Bray上週在斯洛維尼亞舉辦的OpenOffice.org大會中表示，這種由標準組織OASIS開發的檔案格式，有可能繼全球資訊網（World Wide Web）之後，徹底轉變世界。

Bray在會中表示：「現在我們有可能再次撼動世界，再次顛覆一切，只要我們在全球辦公桌面系統上，普遍使用一種共有的、開放的、不受妨礙且可重複使用的資料格式，那就是OpenDocument。因此，我們可能在下一個10年內，看到類似網際網路的巨變再次發生。而那會相當有趣 – 我期待這一切能夠實現。」

美國麻薩諸塞州政府已決定，將採用OpenDocument作為電腦文件的標準格式，但微軟Office並不支援此規格。

麻州政府周三(21日)公告正式版的「企業技術參考模型」(Enterprise Technical Reference Model)，作為辦公室生產力應用程式的文件格式準則。

上個月在公眾評論期開始前，麻州即提議只採用符合開放文件格式(Open Document Format)的Office應用程式產品，也就是OpenDocument--標準組織OASIS發展的格式。

昇陽 ( Sun )的 Microsystems於上週低調地宣佈，她正準備撤回Sun Industry Standard Source License，它主要使用在OpenOffice.org之上，也是居於領導地位的開放原始碼辦公室套裝軟體。

Sun主管開放原始碼業務的主管Simon Phipps說，在撤回 SISSL 之後，OO.o（OpenOffice.org）將會在LGPL（Lesser General Public License）之下進行授權。

接著就用您習慣的收信軟體來收取來自論壇的信件了，此時，也請您寫一封信到 dev@zh.openoffice.org ，自我介紹一下，並表明有意參與計劃。請在電郵中附上以下資料（不用盡填，不過最少請附上姓名）：姓名（中英皆可）、想負責的工作、個人簡介。
