根據以上網站的資料，Database Application (好像名為Base)的Status已經到了1.0版。似乎很有可能在OOo 2.0看到它的縱影，大家不用再慨歎OOo沒有一款類似Access的軟體了。

不過，我始終開始不了該份文件的最新版本，不知道各位是不是這樣。

這東西應該就是我們常用的資料源，而不是個單獨的資料庫軟體，它是讓OOo的各個應用程式可以藉它連接上各種資料庫
OOo的一貫政策也都是不自行開發一套新的資料庫軟體，它認為現今資料庫已經夠多了用不著再開發一套，所以都是利用Database Access 這專案去負責連接各種資料庫

但昇陽的StarSuite有包一套由Software AG提供的Adabas，這是一套獨立的資料庫軟體

我在文件內發覺這段目的（goal），似乎除了是其它資料庫的frontend外，也可以用dBase的格式儲存表格。

The goal is to define a standalone database application. In this database application the user can create forms, reports, queries, tables, views and relations. The forms, reports and queries will be stored in a single file format which will be explained later on. Optionally, the file format will also contain the dBase tables. An own file format allows the user to handle it the same way he is used to from other competitors.

那Ooo以後是不是也可以開啟M$ Access的.mdb檔呢?

剛剛測試一下資料庫，用dBase作為資料源，相關功能都蠻齊全
的，等2.0出來，也許可以使用更多資料庫系統，如POSTGRESQL。

OpenOffice.org 用 ODBC/JDBC 應可連到 PostgreSQL。
