IBM要將GPL的Lotus Symphony貢獻回給OpenOffice.org。Symphony基於OpenOffice.org改良，包括可以Office/iWorks匹敵的驚豔UI，都將於接下來幾個月陸續貢獻回Apache Openoffice.org。IBM並將協助加速下一版的OpenOffice.org釋出。歡迎大家下載Symphony搶先試玩！

今年的COSCUP 2011，OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice入選了兩個議程，分別是政嘉的《LibreOffice 在地化 - 談 LibreOffice 歷史與臺灣區發展困境》，及依瑪貓的《OpenOffice.org 的魔術沙盒—繽紛的零》。

Sun 推出 odf plugin for MS Office：http://www.sun.com/software/star/odf_plugin/index.jsp
下載安裝後，MS Office就可以產生odt檔，也可以開啟odt檔來編輯。中文一切正常！
另外社群也研發類似的東西，檔案比較小，不過，它有分Word、Excel、PowerPoint...等版本。http://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/

在 Solveig Haugland 的 Blog 上看到這一篇轉載自 Lifehacker 的文章：大意：「Windows/Mac/Linux: 加上了照片、影片和高解析度的字型的簡報檔會變成相當大的檔案。如果你有夠大的隨身碟或是可燒錄光碟的話，當然沒問題。但如果你得用 e-mail 來把檔案寄出去的話，怎麼辦？昇陽做了一個簡報壓縮器供 OpenOffice.org 以及 StarOffice 使用。這個免費的壓縮器會利用壓縮圖檔、刪除隱藏的簡報頁面以及產生固定的連結物件等等方式來達到縮小簡報檔的目的。用起來很像另一個專門為 PowerPoint 設計的 PPTminimzer ，但相較之下... 觀看完整文章
